Many of Canada’s outstanding social critics have essays in this collection. The essays have been written over the last five years and cover a wide range of social questions like poverty in Canada, unemployment, youth and politics, the C.C.F. in Saskatchewan as well as the N.D.P., economic continentalism, the multi-national corporation, power-structure analysis, and parliamentary politics. There is also a major essay on the national question in Canada. The book concludes with a revised essay called “Toward an Extra-Parliamentary Opposition” which when first published raised a new perspective for a pioneering political strategy for the Left in Canada.

Outstanding essays from the radical journal Our Generation have been brought together to form a contemporary composite view of priorities for social change in Canada.
